Rachela
Rachela (3,152 m) is located at tri-junction of Sikkim, Bhutan and West Bengal. An experienced trekker can reach Rachela within 6 hours of trekking from Aritar, Sikkim, for novice trekkers can take about 6 or more hours. Other trekking route to Rachela is from Lava, Kalimpong. While trekking to Rachela one can enjoy beautiful valleys, dense jungle and twisted uphill trekking routes that is segmented between Bengal and Sikkim.
Rachela is locally renowned for it's natural beauty, from here entire Chola range can be seen, the range that separates Sikkim from Tibet (China) in the north-east. In Rachela one can also find jungle Orchids and enormous varieties of Rhododendrons which start to bloom on the month of April-May-June. Sunsets and sunrises here can also bring the romantic sensation on trekker's mind as the big red dot of sun covers all surrounding range with overwhelming golden light.
Since, Rachela as well as it's trekking route falls between border of Bengal and Sikkim, it is still politically controversial place, therefore, it is advised that trekkers take special guidelines from local authorities beforehand.
