The festival of Mangar community falls on the full moon day of Baisakh. In Mangar language Barahi means the God, minat or mi means worship and jong means fort. Thus, the meaning of the festival is the worship of God of protection of the Mangar people. During this festival the priest Bhusal performs worship of all the household divinities, nature divinities and others offering various types of root and tuber crops, cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fruits and vegetables. The mangars express their thankfulness for the good harvest and also pray for good cropping season in the coming year.
