Arunachal Pradesh
Located in eastern part of India (Latitude 28°14'20.76"N, Longitude 94° 4'10.36"E), became the 24th state of India on 20th february 1987. Itanagar is the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. Arunachal Predesh is the largest natural beauty in north-east, with its 83743 sq kms of lush green forests, deep river valleys and beautiful plateaus and more than 60 aboriginal tribal groups and sub-groups. State stretches from snow-capped mountains in the north to the plains of Brahmaputra valley in the south. The major rivers in Arunachal Pradesh that forms the biggest river Brahmaputra in Assam are Siang, Kameng, Lohit, Subansiri and Tirap. Arunachal Predesh shares the border with Bhutan on the west, China on the north and north-east and Myanmar on the east.

Climate
Temperature in summer ranges from 25°C to 35°C, and in winter from 1°C to 15°C. The best time to visit is from October to May. Arunchal Pradesh receives heavy rainfall of 80 to 160 inches (2,000 to 4,000 mm) annually, most of it between May and September.
People and Tribal Heritage
According to 2001 census, the population of Arunachal Pradesh is about 1,091,117, spread over 12 towns and more than 3000 villages.

Monpas and Sherdukpens
The Monpas, the skilled weavers, traders and agriculturist. The Shekdukpens are reputed for their folk dances, such as Yak dance, deer dance, Ajilhamu dance and Eagle dance are hypnotizing.
Khamtics, Singpos and Tangsas
Their ancestors origin are in Thiland and Myanmar (Burma), and are the strong followers of Hinayana Buddhism.
Adis, Akas, Apatanis, Nyishis, Mishis, Mijis
are the worshipers of the sun and moon (Donyi-Polo and Abo-Tani) as their deity. Their rituals involve the sacrifice of animals and nature worship.

Itanagar
The capital town since 20th April 1974 is located on the foothills, is probably the biggest town of the State. It is just 350 meters above mean sea level. Itanagar is inhabited by various people from around the country, however the majorly dominated by Nishis tribes, you will probably recognize them by their massive knot of hair rolled into a bun over their forehead.
Itanagar doesn’t have and airport, however there are airports at Tezu, Pesighat, Along, Deporijo, Ziro and Lilabari, the nearest train station are 33 km away Harmuty, and North Lakhimpur 60 km away.
Tezpur
Tezpur lies on the banks of the Brahmaputra river, it is the gateway town to the Arunachal’s hills, well connected to Guwahati airport. Bhalukpong, 58 km away, north to Tezpur is renowned for it’s hot springs, orchid centre and Nyethidow festival in March. Nearby Nameri Sanctury offers elephant ride, where you can find out more about endangered leopard, white winged wood duck etc. You can also opt for river rafting, fishing expeditions, which are organized by Patasali Eco-camp of Forest Department.
Bomdila
Bomdila a small town situated at a height of about 8000 ft, is the district headquarters of West Kameng, is a delightful stopover, here are few gompas (Monasteries) and craft centers, and offers splendid view of Himalayan Range. You can also experience the Yak breeding process in Yak breeding center. As you climb the higher altitude of mountain road to Tawang, the forest thins out and air becomes increasingly colder.
Tawang
Accessible by car from Guwahati and Tezpur in Assam. Tawang is spread over approximately 2085 sq. km. As per locals, the Mera Lama bestowed the name Tawang in the 17th century. This area is mostly dominated by Monpa tribes. Tawang has some of the most important Monasteries, such as Tawang Monastery, the 2nd largest monastery in the world, next only to the one in Lhasa, The color yellow of monastery denotes the sect which is the most prevalent here, this mighty monastery is situated at about 9500+ feet and is located in India, with 8m high statue of Buddha, great rotating prayer wheels, massive assembly hall and the library with priceless manuscripts, scriptures and litrature. The Taktsang monastery, which is about 45 km from Tawang is a Tiger’s Den, where Guru Padmasambhava have visited this monastery in 8th century. Another oldest Monastery is the Ani Gumpa, located 12 km away from Tawang, hoses 45 nuns.
Parasuram Kund
Parasuram Kund is on the banks of river Lohit. The important festival Makar Sankranti (festival of Hindu) is celebrated here annually in January. Local believes that that if a person takes a dip in the Kund once, his sins would be wiped out forever.
Ziro
Ziro is located about 200 km from Itanagar, surrounded by hills, is well connected by the bus to Daporojo, is the home of dazzling landscape and tribal culture. Here you can visit Tarin, a fishing farm in this altitude, and experience the nature in it’s tranquility.
Pasighat
The oldest town and the district headquarters of East Siang. The region is home of Adi tribe. This region is ideal for adventure sports. Just 13km away is the Daying Ering Wildlife sanctuary, 100 km away is Malinithan, the archaeoligical site.
Namdapha Wildlife Sanctuary
The truly unique wildlife sanctuary (4,500mt) has the vast biodiversity, with varied flora and fauna.Wild life here is also remarkable with range of wild animals such as, elephant mithun, Himalayan black bear, wild goat , musk deer, slow loris, binturong etc.

- By Air : Nearest airport is in Lilabari (North Lakhimpur) Assam, which is about 60 km from Itanagar. For Rawang Bomdilla-Tezpur, Lilabari is the nearest airpot.
- By Road : By road from Guwahati to Itanagar on NH 52 (National Highway), is 429 km. District buses are also available from Guwhati. Direct buses to Itanagar are also available from Shillong (482 km).
- By Rail : Nearest rail station is Harmuty in Assam, 33 km from Itanagar.
