SBS and US Recession
The recent US economic crisis which has impacted the global economy seems to have affeced one of our banking institution pretty badly...yes sir, our own State Bank of Sikkim! How so? one may ask!
Grapevine has it, that, during the recently concluded Bank P.O. Exam by the SBS, they seemed to have come face to face with an unusual crisis, they were facing shortage of papers, yes sir, papers for printing questions, papers for writing answers by the candidates, papers for wiping their behinds when nature calls....in fact the problem was so acute that questions were left incomplete in a bid to save whatever precious little space they could on each paper. One enterprising candidate completely oblivious of the fact requested for extra answer sheets, the questions it seems were of 20 marks each and there were four or five in total and correspondingly four blank sheets were given to write those answers, to his/her horror was dumbstruck when the invigilator refused point blank.
Now one may come to the conclusion that the SBS had to resort to this in order to cut costs, if that is the case, then ingenious is what one would call them! Our finance minister the honorable P. Chidambaram would be really pleased. Finally, these people are using their brains, or whatever little they have, what if it is the most absurd and absolutely pathetic excuse? at least they have utilised their brains...for better or for worse!
You see, we the people of Sikkim have learnt to take these things in stride...we have a very positive approach to life, never mind how pathetic, absurd, out of the world, stupendous the situation might seem like, we take it in our S-T-R-I-D-E.
In future i suggest SBS that they just pick the candidates from a draw of lots...well this would save a lot of costs you see. Costs which they would have otherwise incurred on conducting interviews, transportation costs, refreshment costs, etc. In fact, this way they would save a lot of PAPERS!!

Bichara tyo candidate. How horrifying. If this is true, he/she should have made a big fuss about it and the case should have been reported.

Thank you. No, i do not have a blog yet...but my question here would be, why is it always that things get done only after creating a ruckus? Why not do it properly the first time?
It was not such a mammoth task, there were only 125 candidates. The candidate simply decided not to create a ruckus as he did not feel it was worth it. These people would come up with a thousand excuses. Moreover, other candidates who were facing the same problem were not forthcoming.
This candidate has resolved to pursue his dreams of becoming an IAS officer and episodes such as these has, in fact, acted as a catalyst to bolster his resolve. Watch out SBS!!

Re: SBS and US Recession
What I meant was , you need to ask what is rightfully yours. The candidate should have asked for the papers, he didn't, so the next time they hold any exam the same thing will happen. Someone else will suffer. I think this is where we lag, we don't point out the mistakes , we dont demand our right. Ideally it should be provided to us , but if it isnt we should demand it.
But the good thing that came out of this was that someone is inspired to do better and reach for the best.Sometimes small things can bring about great change. All the best to him. Will be praying that he succeeds in being an IAS officer.
