GANGTOK, April 05: Nineteen aspiring semi finalists of Swar Sikkim will enthrall the audience with their mesmerizing voices on 6 April live at Denzong Cinema Hall, Gangtok.
Implemented and Coordinated by Rabong Tourism Development Committee (RTDC), the search for best voice of Sikkim has already become a topic of discussion in every household.
In a press conference at SDF Bhawan, the organizing team interacting with the media informed that it was the vision and objective of their chief patron DD Bhutia to promote, propagate and bring the culture and talents of Sikkim in the fore front.
RTDC is scouting for new and exciting vocalists who can demonstrate that they have what it takes to be a professional entertainer. Swar Sikkim (star singer) of tomorrow. Indeed it has already become one of its own right kinds of talent hunt competition hosted for state of Sikkim.
The preliminary auditions of Swar Sikkim were held at Gangtok and Namchi that saw a roaring success with large turn out of participants. Some 275 aspirants turned up for the preliminary rounds. The response to the search was very much positive and finally 19 promising participants were adjudged for the semi final round to be held on 6 April at Denzong Cinema Hall after 1 pm onwards.
Ten were selected from Gangtok and another ten from Namchi for the semi final round comprising 9 boys and 10 girls. An overall training as well as choreography is being held at SDF Bhawan for the semi finalists.
The preliminary audition performers were assessed by a panel of judges namely Deo Raj Sharma, Dharma Bhushan Gazmer, Dushyant Pariyar and Sonam Doma Bhutia. The selected 19 singers will perform in front of a live audience at Denzong Hall to select the ten finalists.
The singers will perform two songs that will include slow and a fast numbers. The grand finale where the Swar Sikkim will be discovered will be held at the Cho-Dzo Lake at Rabong during the forecoming Rabong fest.
At the final the top three selected as winners of Swar Sikkim will be sent for a classical vocal training at a renowned music institute of India and will receive a priority in job under Sikkim government.
The first and second Swar Sikkim winners will get a chance to record an audio album by Rhythm Digital Audio Station and Matrix Sound Lab of Darjeeling and Rajen Rasialy of Gangtok. The first three winners will also get video albums sponsored by Channel Ace Production with more exciting and surprising prizes.
The event was supported by Cultural Affairs and Heritage Conservation Department with official’s bankers as IndusInd Bank. The entire event will be telecasted live on Nayuma Television. As it has become a hot topic to be discussed in the state presently the music industry is also being seen as an another important and alternative career opportunity to serve an unemployment problem.
