India is also becoming like pakistan or other extremist nation. Earlier it was only muslim countries where such incidents were taking place but now India is no exception with new Hindu groups turning more hostile!!...cant our political leaders do something about it?!!....or are they even concerned about it?!.....look at the recent past records, more than 5-6 terror attacks in span of one year!!,I don't think they are.....on top of that we are facing global financial crisis!!...these incidents only shows us that History's repeating itself!!!...GOD HELP US!!

Its really sad that such an event occurs . . India has to be strong and never give in to these outfits . .
The politicians like Advani who back the Malegaon blast suspects is really lame . . Terrorist dont have any religion and we cant differentiate them in such a manner . . Or in case of Orissa . . May it be hindu or muslim . . _________________

@Saran I have a trip planned to Mumbai this Dec- Jan , as my sister lives there that too in Colaba, but I am going ahead with the trip. I can't be held hostage in my own country.
There have been many instances in the past, when we just went on a stroll to Colaba , admiring the TajMahal Hotel , and the history behind it, to see it all come down is so surreal. Coincidently my di n bhena left for a holiday to Kerala yesterday. We are relieved by it, but my bhena says he would have prefered to go and join his duty as he is an officer of the navy. _________________ Never take life seriously. About hill students , I have talked to around 4 people who are safe. It includes my bro, who reached Mumbai today, but since the situation in Colaba is tensed he went to a friends place in Andheri.

yeah it's sad to see such catastrophe in Indian cities. I also have few relatives in Mumbai as well as in other few cities, thanks to almighty, they are all safe from harm. But this thing can occur time and time again in future, and I can't imagine my close ones stuck in these tangled situations, real scary situation.. so to say.

It's nice to know you guys are ok, I was shocked to know there were eleven attacks in different places in bombay.. it is a horrifying moment for India.
I think Indian commandos are lame, they were eating bananas when hostages inside were helpless. |

One Sikkimese person was injured and at least three others received a first handed harrowing experience of 48 hours siege of Mumbai by terrorists that left scores dead and hundreds injured.
Dipesh Chettri, 19 years, sustained injuries in his right hand during the first series of explosions and gun fire by terrorists near Kolhabhad at Mumbai on Wednesday night. Mr. Chettri is in the Indian Navy for the past 3 years and he is from Gangtok. He was presently stationed at the Kolhabhad Navy base and was in the market area when terrorists open fire and hurled grenades. He sustained injuries in his right hand and was rushed to a nearby Aswini hospital. Mr. Chettri’s family members informed that he is out of danger and stable. “His Navy unit chief has assured us that they will take care of him,” said the family members, that they are in regular contact with him. Meanwhile, three Sikkimese girls working in the Oberoi hotel at Mumbai were struck inside the hotel which was held hostage by terrorists for more than 48 hours. The girls had been recently placed in the Oberoi hotel after graduating from Institute of Hotel Management, Gangtok. While one of them has been identified as Apriti Thapa, the names of the other two girls are not known at the moment. All of them have been rescued and are safe, said family members here. Some more Sikkimese girls and boys were also working in the hotel. Fortunately, they had already left before the terrorists struck, it is informed. -from sikkimexpress- |

@ Saran, I agree withalmost everything you say , except for the comment about our commandos. A person has to eat and they had been there for so long. What they did was heroic, and they did manage to get people out alive. The Indian commandos especially marine commando are the best in the world, when it comes to training and enduarance. Better than the Seals too, its only in the equipment front that they lag. If they had as hitech equipment as the seals then they would be the best in the world. Its time for the government to look into this fact, and equip them with the best, because in today's world terrorism is a reality, and it can strike anywhere.

hi micky, I agree with you about the facts of commandos, they are the best.. what annoyed me was while they were eating bananas, .. terrorist had already killed 100 hostages.. they might have been trained to do Guerrilla warfare, but these kind of hostage situation is very new for Indian commandos...well don't take it personally ok.
well now it appears that terrorists were actually planning to blow up the whole taj building. Remembering Mumbai Attack -- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

saran they were eating banana because banana is an energy booster, and you know fighting for hrs requires energy. Most of the people had died before the NSG arrived.
And the Indian system is such that we cannot replicate Russia or Israel (remember when Russian army killed kids along with militants for collective good), as reports suggest , NSG had said they could flush out all within hours but they were asked to be careful and make protecting the hostage their first priority. _________________ Never take life seriously. yeah.. you are probably right, but I was watching NDTV and they were discussing on indian commandos facilities.. and they are right too about the facts that only courage and bravery is not enough to deal with this new type of hostage situations in India. The police and commandos were wearing very old bullet proof jackets.. they were given 2nd world war weapons.. and certainly they weren't trained to deal with urban Guerrilla tactics.
And the bananas....all I can say is, they just dropped from the chopper and few minutes later they were eating bananas.. it was really annoying to see THAT on those tense moment. |
