Abortion rates are relatively high in Japan, while adoptions have traditionally been rare.
A Japanese hospital plans to set up a "baby hatch" allowing mothers to anonymously drop off their newborns so they can be put up for adoption. The drop-off at Jikei Hospital in southern Japan will consist of a small window in an outside wall, which opens on to an incubator bed, officials say. Once a baby has been placed inside, an alarm bell will alert staff. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/6131744.stm this might interest you.. _________________

I think this is theoretically a good idea,
but I then wonder if some sick people will steal a child and put it in there for a joke or revenge? How is it possible to get the baby back, etc.? What if the mother does it without her parents or child's father's permission? |

yea.. but i think there may be some real problem in japan.. as news also says.. "Abortion rates are relatively high in Japan, while adoptions have traditionally been rare." so it's better idea to stop abortion!! |

I think that they should work more on making it easier for young mothers to cope in Japan. It's still hard for them there, and that is a major reason for abortions.
