Teesta River arise in Thangu, Yumthang and Donkia-La ranges, then the river then flows past the town of Rangpo where it forms the border between Sikkim and West Bengal up to Teesta Bazaar. The rivers Rangit and Teesta meet at Triveni near Melli, West Bengal (a Small town on the highway).

Teesta and Rangit rivers stretche very long making them ideal for water Expeditions such as Rafting, Kayaking and Fishing. The icy cold waters of the rugged Teesta have a series of rapids with varying intensity and character.



Rafting in Sikkim

White water rafting in Sikkim is another adventurous sport in Teesta and Rangit rivers. These rivers are ideal place for rafting, as river is not too harsh, even the beginners can step in to enjoy this adventurous ride.

But experienced river rafters can also find the excitement here as the Teesta River has been graded number 3 in difficulty in white water rafting in the international scale. The rivers rapidly flows bursting and gushing through Rocky Mountains, river becomes uncontrolled and wild, these rivers are full of adrenaline and excitement, undoubtedly the world-class white water rafting adventure in Sikkim.

Definitely fishing is a relaxing, fun and rewarding way to spend time in Sikkim.  If you one of those who love fishing and take it seriously, then you must take the opportunity to enjoy the fun of fishing in these great rivers of Sikkim, You don’t need expensive equipment for fishing.

Angling in Teesta -Sam_Sikkim

Your local travel agencies or Sikkim tourism can provide you good fishing rods for hire or you can just purchase locally made bamboo poles, with hooks, sinker, reel etc. that would be a new local experience if you haven’t done fishing with bamboo poles. If you are beginner and unsure what is involved in fishing,  you can always find information on the internet and why not learn about it.  Before you start fishing contact your Travel Agency or Tourism office and check the State’s regulations to determine whether a license is needed.

Kayaking

Teesta and Rangit bother offers some best spots for kayaking, but the sport is yet to be introduced in an open manner. Sikkim Tourism can provide needed equipments. Kayaking can be arranged only for special groups.
