We all know SITCO but do we use SITCO products or recommend it to our friends or people who asks What is Sikkim's local product ... !!
Please help me out if u have any information about SITCO and any IDEAS about how can it be popularized. Or what other product can it manufacture apart form watches that would catch up in market... ANYTHING THAT WILL HELP SITCO TO FLOURISH ... !!! I know HR definitely has some information on this one... _________________ Shine On You Crazy Diamond... !! |

I do not have any idea about SITCO but i do definitely feel Sikkim fruit juice could do better if promoted better. If Fanta, Maaza, frooti and others can click why can't better promotional for Sikkim local fruit product do better?

First thing SITCO needs is style and good management, if they want to compete with other company like timex, fast track etc. My Timex watch looks more appealing than a SITCO sports watch.

thank you all for ur suggestions and feedback... hope more will continue to turn up... on a mean time ... yes the styling of the watches is one of the issues and that has been put up in the up coming strategies ... and regarding IC i don't know much but it has been doing that for HMT or rather was doing ... however, that didn't work to that level it seems but yes can find other industries for that ....

Answer is probably Promotion of domestic products . . How many of us have seen ads of these products . . Not even in state level . . Forget promoting in indian media . . Tv , papers . .
eg ppl talk sikkim has huge potential in terms of tourism but no ads . . So we can certainly forget abt such things like popularising sikkim goods . . Govt once had passed circular that employees buy sitco watches as gifts . . |

i've used SITCO watches, and i've seen them on a few ppl not frm sikkim too. although i dont use it anymore, it still works. Quality obviously is not a factor then. Design however can be streamlined and the most important factor in these times - advertising. i dont recall seeing any ad for Sitco watches apart from the lone Baichung Bhutia ad about 10 years ago, that too in Vajra Cinema, not on TV, and all the hoardings are limited to Sikkim only. If Sitco wants to spread its market base out of sikkim and wants to go national, it sud market itself like a national brand, print and TV campaigns included. I see no reason why it shouldnt work.

thanks Ernesto ... quality definitely not an issue ... yes the advertising part has been lacking, but reason behind that is the financial status ... since its already on loss so can't afford to take in any big icons in the ad... however, FM has been a hit in sikkim ad through that would help i guess... and the largest outlet i.e in bangalore too doesn't have any ad or hoarding to support the product.

Yes radio spots will help for sure. There is a solution to the localization problem too. If its difficult for SITCO to venture out of Sikkim, why not try and capture the national market in Sikkim itself. Gangtok has grown out of its "Bong Destination" tag and has started attracting visitors from all parts of India and abroad. Why not market it keeping them in mind. A good product will always find takers. Nothing works better for a brand than word of mouth and the best part is, its free. What say you?
